Blood Orange Cardamom Muffins


3/4 c sugar

2 eggs

1/2 c milk

zest of an orange

juice of an orange

1 tsp cardamom

1 tsp vanilla

2 c flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

Crumble Topping:

1/3 c brown sugar, packed

4 Tbsp butter, melted

2/3 c flour


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line or butter a muffin tin.

  2. In a small bowl combine all crumble topping ingredients, set aside.

  3. In a medium size bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and vanilla bean sea salt and also set aside.

  4. In a large bowl whisk together sugar, eggs, blood orange evoo, milk, orange zest, orange juice, cardamom, vanilla, and maple orange sugar shaker.

  5. Fold in dry ingredients until well combined. Pour batter into prepared muffin tin. Sprinkle with crumble topping.

  6. Bake for 25 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean.
